I had no idea that editing resaving an image as a JPEG file reduces quality. I will probably resave images as TIFF Files so as not to lose quality of the image. Also, saving the file and changing it to a different kind seems easy enough. The article made it pretty self explanatory.

This article is very helpful with undersatnading file extensions. I like how the author explains the steps on how to change file formats. I also like how it explains the file format myth. This article has really helped.
ReplyDeleteI get what they are saying about why it can be benificial to save picture files in different formats. One of the things that was said the most was that if you edit a .jpeg file and edit it, and then save it into jpeg file again the picture looses quality and lossyness. Saving it into a tiff file can be benificial because it wont lose quality whenever you edit and resave it.

this story gives us useful information for those who did not know what could happen to images when you edit them in jpeg format. I now realize that file formats are important depending on what you need to do, be it sharing pictures or editing them.

I found this article very interesting. I didn't give file formats a second thought until this year. Now, doing assignments like the file extension worksheet, I think that this article is something that I can refer back to, should I ever get stuck. Articles like this always make me wonder, What is the face of tomorrow's technology going to look like. Especially if we're able to record our history in such a 'flawless' way.

JPEG is very complicated to use. I am glad i read this because now you know before you try to edit a picture in JPEG be sure your just moving it around not cropping it etc...
ReplyDeleteThe most important thing you dont want to do is lose your picture quality.

I always knew there were different types but i didn't what the use was. I also didn't know that editing them causes the quality to become not as good. The article helped a lot to know when to change the file and how to change it.this will be helpful when we start using photoshop more and other programs that edit images.

I think that they need to come up with one extensoin file for everything because having so many file extenstions is hard to keep up with. I just dont understand.Do you change the file extenstion yourself or does the computer do it by its self?

I like the article and would reccomend it to anyone looking for info. on the subject. One file extension might be easier to try but i think it would result in chaos because one thing with like 100 meanings isn't right. The article will help alot when it comes to file extensions and photoshop.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was an interesting fact learning that, resaving it as a JPEG reduces quality. I always wonder why a picture would look good when you take it but have poor quality once you upoad it. At the same time it's such a hassal having to save it under som many other extensions, it would be nice to have like a universal extension for all that doesn't lagg in quality.

I knew pretty much everything about losing quality when you save an edited JPEG file, and I did know of the usefulness of Photoshop's .psd file format. Though I didn't know about the usefulness of TIFF files. Now that I understand more about the TIFF format, I may use that in the future. Most every other thing about file extensions I know of, but there may be a few ellusive file formats like the TIFF format that may have passed by me that are very useful.

I found it interesting that just the change of a file extension and fix or ruin a picture so quickly by its quality. But I'm glad we have photoshop for those file extensions that are new to us like bitmap as one. Because of this it makes it easier to have great picture from the one you had before.

I never knew that if you saved a picture many times, the quality would get worse. Having different file extensions and knowing how to use them is very helpful. I just wish there was one file extension for everything. I will definently save my jpegs as tiff files before editing so i dont lose picture quality. That is one imporntant reason to understand the different file formats.

I never realized that the RAW images on your camera are usually unable to be seen or shared. Now i find that very interesting but it finally makes sense for the reason behind changing the file formats to fit whatever program your using. I also think its really interesting that they have so many different file formats that do different things but are necissary to change and use for the kinds of things you plan to do with the images or audio or document ex.

It's important to know what format to save files under and what each format can do for your image. Files like documents, music, and pictures are usually saved under formats such and DOC, MP3, and JPG. Photoshop images are under the PSD format so you could know if tht image has been altered or not.
